What to accomplish in 2019

We are here. 2019. What is this year going to do for you? Or better put, what are you going to do this year?

Nothing good happens by chance. Let me say that again, nothing that you desire will just happen by itself. If you want something, and I mean really want it, you need to be active in crushing that goal. Here are a few key points to think about when creating your goal(s):

1. Make it a SMART goal

- Specific

- Measurable

- Attainable

- Realistic

- Time oriented

Example of a weak goal:

- Lose weight

Example of a SMART goal:

- Lose 10lbs by March 1 by cutting out processed food and attending CrossFit 4x/wk.

2. Attach emotion

Instead of just thinking about the physical 10lbs you want to lose, think about how it will make you FEEL. Will you have more energy? How will your clothes fit? How will it make you feel when you go out? How would your loved ones feel about it?

3. Make goals for all aspects of your life

Health (reduce medications? workout more?)

Weight (reduce body fat? increase muscle?)

Personal (bucket list item?)

Family (more dedicated family time? stop working at night?)

Financial (reduce debt? save for a vacation?)

Work (want a promotion? how will you earn it?)

4. Tell others your goals

Making your goals public (even if its just to your spouse) will dramatically increase the likelihood of accomplishing the goal. Want even more support? Post it on Facebook.

5. Create a plan

How are you actually going to achieve your goal? As I mentioned above, nothing good happens just by chance.

Want to pay off your car loan ahead of its due date? Sit down and figure out your finances, see where you can cut costs to put an extra payment each month towards that loan. Same goes for losing 10lbs, running a marathon, etc ... they require a specific plan, acted on often.

There are speedbumps and roadblocks all over the place. The path to your goal is often not smooth or easy. But that is what makes it so rewarding when you crush your goal. Stay positive, keep at it, and remember if you need help, we are here for you!

Last but not least, if you would like to discuss your goals (any of them), you can set a Goal Setting Session with a Coach of your choice!
