Are You Reaching Your Goals?
What are your fitness or nutrition goals? Have you set any or maybe both?
Are you hitting them or are you feeling stuck?
People often talk about wanting to lose weight, run faster, get stronger, eat healthier, etc.
The main difference between those who succeed in obtaining their goals vs. those who don't comes down to focus, dedication and support.
A focus on their goal and an ability to make it a priority.
Dedicated, consistent effort at the steps necessary to achieve the desired outcome.
A positive support system that supports their goals and actions. Remember, we are the average of the 5 people we spend the the most time with.
Sometimes however, even the most dedicated feel stuck. They feel like they have plateaued and need a breakthrough. Questions like "How do I add 5 or 10 more pounds to a specific lift?", or "How do I lose that last bit of stubborn body fat or weight?" are often top of mind. We've all been there.
This can be very frustrating, to the point of questioning your WHY and even possibly a desire to give up.
If this sounds familiar, the following are reasons why you may not be reaching your goals:
Your goals might not be visible or visible enough.
Don't just set them and not think about them. Make them visible, so you see them daily. Post them on your refrigerator or bathroom mirror.
Your goals might not be realistic.
Most people don't know what realistic is when goal setting. This is where making S.M.A.R.T. goals and/or seeking the advice of a coach is important.
There is no follow-up/accountability.
If you have a habit of falling off track, this is where having a support system of friends, family, like-minded individuals or a coach is helpful. This is the beauty of group fitness classes, nutrition challenges and one-on-one fitness and nutrition coaching - someone is on your side and you not only feel accountable to yourself but also to them!
