Why I Love Coaching.
By Kristin Carlile
I’ve been doing CrossFit for over 7 years now, and have been a member at ResoluteFit for almost 3 years, but I didn’t start coaching at ResoluteFit until a little over a year ago. I wanted to share some of the reasons I decided to start coaching and why I enjoy it so much.
Helping People Achieve Their Goals
As a coach there is nothing more exciting than seeing someone achieve something they didn’t think was possible. Over the course of weeks and months I get to learn about athlete’s goals and find ways to help them make a plan to achieve those goals. I know how satisfying it is to work towards something for so long and to finally achieve it. Being able to watch athletes put in the work and see their happiness when they succeed is the best part of the job.
Teaching People What They are Capable of
As someone who has played sports my entire life, I’ve learned that you shouldn’t underestimate the impact a coach can have. My goal is to make everyone a little bit better every day. I want to provide the support and encouragement athletes need to push past their comfort zone to achieve things they never thought were possible. We are all capable of more than we realize and sometimes we just need that extra push.
Sharing the Knowledge I Have Gained
Over the course of these 7 years I have learned from so many extremely knowledgeable coaches and athletes. One of the biggest things I’ve learned is that even if you have been taught something before, there is always more to learn. Sometimes a coach has a cue or way of explaining something that resonates and makes everything just “click”. I love being able to share some of the knowledge I have gained over the years to teach people new movements or different ways of thinking about how they move.
